Cantr. The full name of Counter-Strike. My favorite gympl game. We were having a LAN party. We went to a friend's apartment. They linked computers (not laptops... computers... boxes...). We played cantr.
One side in the canter are the terrorists and the other the cops. The bad and the good. Only the title says who is who. They could have been called “freedom fighters” and “imperial oppressors”. But they were terrors and cannibals. The terrorists were multicolored. The cops and hostages were white as snow. I'm sure it was just a coincidence.
Computer games shape people's ideas about of the world. Want to teach someone what good and evil look like? What does he get points for? Create a popular game.
When you say FBI, it automatically jumps out at me that they're “the good guys.” Because the Americans are the good guys. And of course the whites are the good ones. It is the bias with which I view the world.
Which brings us to AI. When I write AI, I mean the whole field. AI is not ChatGPT.
AI shapes our view of the world. At the same time, it is full of misdeeds and biases. It's already happening. Let's name some biases. So that you realize what our and the next generation are getting into.
1️⃣ The story is more important than the truth. AI models are optimized to generate coherent stories. The ones in our head acts truthfully. At the same time, AI has no concept of truth. It will generate anything to create an interwoven story. They create resources. Submissions. Alternative facts. You have to reckon with it.
2️⃣ American values are more important than China's. Or vice versa. Depending on which AI you choose. I know, the Americans are the good guys. Therefore, their concentrators don't name concentrators. The Chinese, of course, don't either. An AI with potentially European values is Mistral, but it is in a heavy technological position compared to the US/China. You have to reckon with it.
3️⃣ The market is more important than society. Training data prioritizes market benefits over the welfare of society. I know, people can imagine atomic war rather than the end of capitalism. At the same time, is this bias with which you want to make decisions at the public administration level? Ayn Rand as an adviser to every official! You have to reckon with it.
AI is gradually changing all aspects of our work in House of Cutter. At the same time, it means that we need to understand what we are actually working with. IN The AI industry isn't all rosy, sun-drenched and framed by unicorns. Regardless of the current hype.
“Feature parity is just another way to say “we don't need to exist”. “
