I asked for a keyword analysis. The agency proposed exactly the process they have been running for the last ten years.
They would have done honest work with their method. Except that with AI in the mix, the analysis would have cost far less and been done far sooner.
Inertia is a problem for us and for our suppliers alike.
You cannot buy adaptability
You beat inertia with adaptability. Once you can see the changes in the environment around you, you can build new patterns on top of them. There is a catch.
A great many problems get solved by throwing money at them. Licences. Training. A written AI strategy.
Adaptability cannot be bought. You have to build it up, step by step and systematically.
Simon Wardley put together 40 principles describing how a resilient organisation prepared for change behaves.
You can hold on to them whenever you are building an organisation or a team ready for the future. Whatever that future turns out to be.
A practical example: question your assumptions
Everyone in your company has to be able to tell the boss they are wrong. And the boss has to be able to hear it.
This principle took us a long time to build.
First we needed a safe environment. Part of the leadership went through coaching training, and all of us practise listening without judging.
That is only half the work. The other half is that people have to want to tell you.
A few years ago a colleague left us and only told us what had been hurting her after she had gone. For her it was already too late.
People carry around the idea that the boss is the enemy. We break that down systematically with team topics: once every two months anyone can bring up anything, we talk it through, and the others see that it works.
Webinar on 19 October
Together we will walk through the first nine Wardley principles of a resilient organisation, on how they play out in practice at House of Řezáč.

Everyone who attends also gets a test on the Wardley principles they can use in their own organisation. All registrants get the recording.
"There’s no reassuring ceiling over you, Moneo. Only an open sky full of changes. Welcome it. Every sense you possess is an instrument for reacting to change. Does that tell you nothing?"
– Frank Herbert

The AI Security Industry is Bullshit
Almost nobody actually understands AI security, and it is going to hurt.
